2016/17 Rod Pampling wins in dramatic fashion!

In the final round of the 2016 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, Rod Pampling edged out Lucas Glover by dropping in a 32-foot birdie putt on the 72nd hole to capture his third PGA TOUR title.


An official PGA TOUR event held at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas, Nevada, the Shriners Hospitals for Children® Open has been an annual tradition since 1983. In a city known for its flair for the dramatic, the tournament has had its share since Fuzzy Zoeller won the inaugural event at Las Vegas Country Club.


Tournament highlights include the following:

1984

The first ever million-dollar purse on the PGA TOUR.

1991

Chip Beck records the 2nd ever 59 in the 3rd round played at Sunrise Golf Club.

1996

Tiger Woods records his first career professional victory outlasting Davis Love III in a playoff.

1998

Jim Furyk becomes the first and only player to win the event multiple times, having previously won the 1995 event (and winning again in 1999).

2000

Titleist launches the Pro V1.

2010

Jonathan Byrd wins a three way, four-hole playoff by recording a hole-in-one in near darkness on the Par 3 17th hole.
