After suffering severe burns in a plane crash that killed all but two passengers, Kechi was treated at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Galveston for five years. During that time, she had more than 100 surgeries including skin grafts and reconstruction.

Treatment and care go far beyond surgeries at Shriners Hospitals for Children. For Kechi, music therapy was also a big part of the recovery process. Her first-ever singing performance was on the stage at the Galveston Shriners Hospital in front of fellow patients, staff, and family.

Kechi has since gone on to sing for a national talent show with millions of television viewers. Judges were moved to tears by her performances and she made it all the way to the final live rounds!

The Shriners Hospitals for Children family is proud of Kechi and congratulates her on this momentous achievement. We know that there is no limit to what this young woman can accomplish.
