A Legacy of Love – Nancy’s Story

Multiple images of Nancy from childhood to adult.

Story Summary

Nancy knows firsthand how important it is to support Shriners Hospitals for Children®. That’s because she used to be a patient. Nancy came to Shriners Hospitals for Children in 1969 when she was still in elementary school and continued to receive life-changing care until she graduated from high school.

Born with abnormalities in her hands, Nancy needed 15 surgeries to separate her fingers and spent long periods of her childhood in casts. Her treatment was successful, enabling her to earn a college degree and work in a variety of administrative positions. “Because of Shriners Hospitals, I was able to type and go on to live a productive, independent life!”

LOVE THAT GIVES BACK!

Nancy is very thankful for the life-changing care she received. She continues to maintain a relationship with Shriners Hospitals for Children because she believes in the way we “help children and give them the courage to deal with orthopaedic and other problems.”

Nancy’s love for our healthcare system is reflected in her long history of community service. She has donated generously and even included Shriners Hospitals for Children in her will. Nancy’s legacy of love will strengthen our ability to provide specialized pediatric care to the children we serve now and in the future.
