Meet Hadley!

Meet Hadley one of Shriners Hospitals for Children's fantastic patients that help our cause. Hadley welcomes you!

Story Summary

Hadley has faced unique challenges throughout her life but thanks to Shriners Hospitals for Children® and generous supporters like you, she can live a life with No Limits and achieve more than she ever thought possible.

Born in China without her left forearm and hand, Hadley lived in an orphanage there for 2 years before she was adopted by a family in the United States. During her transition to life in the States, a social worker suggested that a visit to Shriners Hospitals for Children could help improve Hadley’s quality of life and she has been a patient ever since!

Hadley received her first prosthetic arm as a toddler and continued to receive therapy, training, and new prostheses throughout her childhood. The life-changing care at Shriners Hospitals for Children hasn’t just been physical, they also helped her overcome the emotional challenges she has faced. “From the time I was little, they taught me that I should think of myself as unique, rather than disabled,” Hadley says.

Her inner strength, determination, and the life-changing care she received because of your support has helped Hadley reach goals that she never thought possible. Goals like becoming a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and teaching the sport to others, learning to play the piano, and becoming a patient ambassador. She couldn’t have accomplished all of this without your incredible generosity. Because you care enough to give so much, Shriners Hospitals for Children can change the lives of kids, like Hadley, who need it most.
